Empowering Women Through Savings Groups: A Study from the Wellness and Agriculture for Life Advancement (WALA) Program 


This study explores women’s participation and leadership in savings groups in the CRS-led and USAID-funded Wellness and Agriculture for Life Advancement (WALA) program in southern Malawi. The objective of the study was to understand how WALA-supported savings groups advanced women’s empowerment and long-lasting changes to gender power equalities. The report presents research design, methodologies, analysis and key findings, and recommendations for action.
