There’s an App for That: A job aid for Community-based PMTCT Care

To help mothers in rural Malawi access HIV counselling and antiretroviral therapy, the Ministry of Health works with health surveillance assistants to provide information and counseling to HIV-positive mothers during a series of home visits and has developed a manual to assist them in providing care. The USAID and PEPFAR-funded Integrated (HIV Effect) Mitigation and Positive Action for Community Transformation (IMPACT) program developed a pilot mobile application to streamline and individualize this tool. This brief discusses the development and rollout of the application, the challenges experienced while using this application, and tips for implementation.
